*Menkaure- 4th dynasty, builder of the 3rd major pyramid on the Giza plateau
 
*Unas- 5th dynasty, first pyramid to contain the pyramid texts
 
*Pepi II- 6ht dynasty, long reign, (cool name)
 
*Mentuhotep II- 11th dynasty, reunited Egypt after the first intermediate period
 
*Sobekneferu- 12th dynasty, one of the few women to rule Ancient Egypt
 
*Ahmose- 18th dynasty, expelled the Hyksos
 
*Tuthmosis I- 18th dynasty, first royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings
 
*Hatshepsut- 18th dynasty, wife of Thuthmosis, became regent upon his death for her setp-son and nephew, she then took over the kingdom and declared herself pharaoh while presiding over a building spree
 
*Tuthmosis II- 18th dynasty, after his step-mother's death he took his rightful position and consolidated the empire. Late in his reign he went about destroying or recarving the monumante of Hatshepsut in an attempt to erase her
 
*Amenhotep III- 18th dynasty, one of the most powerful pharaohs ever, he expanded further and the period was known for its temple building

*Seti I- 19th dynasty, Temple of Osiris at Abydos, Hypostyle Hall at Karnak
 
*Ramesses II, The Great- 19th dynasty, -Battle of Qadesh against the Hittites and peace treaty -Ramesseum and Abydos Temple -massive buildign and 'recarving' spree -Abu Simbel
 
*Ramesses III- 20th Dynasty, Medinet Habu, the last great Pharaoh
 
*Cleopatra VII- Ptolemaic Period, a Greek Queen of Egypt, she was probably the first person in her family to speak Egyptian. She bore both Caesar and Antony sons. After their defeat, Cleopatra commited suicide rather than be paraded through the streets of Rome in shame.
