RPG FAQs

And here, young RPG Anubite, you shall read of the Frequently Asked Questions. Why? If you know nothing about what RPG is, you will be better off reading this. Also, these questions are quite redundant, so...

Q: What’s RPG?

A: RPG stands for role-playing game. Ever played things such as Zelda? Ya, that’s RPG. Role playing games are ALL strategy games. Whether they are full of strange mythical creatures, or things such as old western run-around games.

Q: What game console do I need to play it?

A: You use pretty much any console, from an oldie like an Atari, to the newest things like PS2, Gamecube, and X-Box.

Q: How many players can play at a time?

A: For game consoles, anywhere from 1-8 players, depending on the system. But, if you’re role-playing on the computer, that number can exceed to great heights. MMORPG is a game with thousands of players on at any one time, while just plain writing RPG, like the simple anime you may ‘act out’ with other people, is also role playing, and it can be in great numbers as well. Keep it at a minimum people, otherwise you will get uberly confused.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Well, for game system games, such as Suikoden III and Monster Rancher III, the price can peak up to 70-80 dollars for new games, but for things for the GameBoy, or the Atari, or N64, prices can be as low as a dollar. I found Oni, a PS2 game, for only 5 dollars one time.

Q: How do I find an RPG that interests me?

A: Most RPG games are Fantasy/Strategy games, so if you don’t like the simple hacking and slashing of little bunnies with axes (from Suikoden III), then you won’t like most RPG. But there are exceptions, such as Age of Empires, with you build a city from the Dark Ages. And most War Games or Old Western games are also RPG. Pretty much anything that is strategy, as I’ve said before.

Q: Where do I get an RPG?

A: Anywhere you can buy computer and console games. There are also MMORPG, which some are free, and some aren’t.

Q: What is MMORPG?

A: MMORPG stands for Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. This is the high-end costing games, such as EverQuest or NeverWinter Nights, which could have millions of players on it at any one time.
