Bo staff- Normally as tall as the user, most are 6 ft in length. Jabs and swipes are the normal attacks. Was the most popular weapon in China, and was regarded as King of All Weapons. It could be used as a walking stick, a tool to carry heavy objects such as two buckets of water, over the shoulders, a tent pole, etc. as well as a weapon of self defense.
.
Short Sticks (my personal fave)- typically about the length of your arms. User wields 2. There are 12 basic strikes, strikes to the side of the head, shoulderblades, hips, and stomach.
.
Shinai- I don't wield one, so don't know very much about them. Made of strips of bamboo so you don't kill anyone while you practice. A band, sometimes nylon, holds the bamboo together. It makes a lot of noise on contact.
.
Nunchakus- originally used as a farm tool meant for softening the ground and beating seeds into it. User builds up momentum by snapping, rolling and returning nunchakus, and ideally aims for the nose, eyes, collarbone or temples.
Broadsword- Made short and thick to be able to absorb shock without breaking. It's resiliant body can allow the user to do some serious damage without it breaking or bending. This sword really packs a punch though it doesn't have as much reach as other swords. The curved handle allows the wielder to hold onto the sword without dropping it during attacks or defenses.
