Sailor Moon

Based on a manga by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon is the story of a teenage girl who meets a magical cat who gives her super powers. She becomes the leader of a team of brave girls, known as the Sailor Warriors. Sailor Moon has long been justifiably renowned for the strength of its plot, its direct and honest treatment of romance and, in this uncut version, a realistic and unflinching acceptance of death as a necessary possible consequence of a righteous fight.

Comments: The Slayers series was my first foray into anime. It's got lots of fantasy, magic, fighting, monsters, and a plot! Though there are plenty of filler episodes, they make up for it in humor. It's also a plus that the main character is really short! I'm a sucker for short heros and heroines. Anyways, now the series is also coming out in manga form, and I believe also a short illustrated novel form too. The Slayers universe is vast, and it's been around long enough that there are plenty of other people who have enjoyed it too who can help out a fan. The animation isn't as modern as newer series, but it's good enough

Chihiro, a 10-year-old girl in the midst of a move to the suburbs with her parents, wanders into a mysterious town. It's the "other world" of gods and monsters, ruled over by a witch. There, humans are changed into animals and disappear. Chihiro, who has a listless disposition, must start working at a huge bath house to survive. Can she return to her own world?

This movie was gorgeous, averything about it was so detailed and richly colored, the story was just as detailed and rich. The characters were very well done. I just loved it all! Can't you tell? We have it at home and watch it all the time, along with My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service
