Here's the end result:
The first step, draw the outline of the hair. Use the shape of the head as a guide to draw the bangs, otline of the hair
and the ponytail. Remember that the ponytail will hang down behind the head, so draw it somewhere.
The hair lines should be facing the front of the head, and since the hair is pulled back, the hair lines should
be vertical in this case (they don't HAVE to be, you can do it differently, but this is the way I do it).
Step two: draw in the highlights. The highlights should be primarily to the side where the source of the light
is. I normally do the lighting to the left, but you can certainly do the lighting how ever you want to.
The highlights can be dimmer than this if you want a more subtle shine.
Step three: fill in the spaces with a color a little bit darker than the outline.
If the hair still looks strange to you, try adjusting the colors.
